Abstract:

Background and Purpose Phlebotomy has been broadly used as an assured and economical technique to tackle soft tissue lesions in ITM (Iranian Traditional Medicine), most Asian countries, Central Europe, and some parts of US. In this study, phlebotomy was used for the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) that is widely recognized as the most common neuropathy. This study aimed to investigate the effects of phlebotomy on the clinical and diagnostic findings of patients with CTS. Methods This is a randomized clinical trial. For this analysis, an entire of 70 hands with CTS were studied, aged 18– 60, and of every gender. The participants were divided into 2 groups: check and management. Within the management cluster, 35 were treated with routine night splint, and within the check cluster, the other 35 were treated with routine night splint in addition to phlebotomy. The variables of which we evaluated were: symptom severity, practical standing scale, distal median nerve sensory latency, and distal meidan nerve motor latency. The severity of symptoms and practical standing of patients were evaluated by Boston questionnaire, and the distal and motor latency were evaluated through the diagnostic NCV test. Results The results of the study demonstrated an incontestable improvement in symptom severity (p = 0.007) additionally a serious decrease in distal sensory latency (p = 0.006) of the check cluster (phlebotomy plus routine night split) as compared with the management cluster (routine night splint). Conclusions The results showed that the incorporation of phlebotomy treatment in an exceedingly routine therapy program would reduce the severity of symptoms and improve the distal sensory disturbance of the median nerve. Therefore, it is advised that phlebotomy, as a convenient and low‐cost complementary medicine technique, could be employed within the treatment of CTS.

Approximately 300 million people worldwide suffer depression and more than 260 million people suffer anxiety. According to the World Health Organization, depression and anxiety are estimated to cause the loss of millions of dollars annually in the world economy due to lost productivity. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of self-medication with herbal products for the treatment of anxiety and depression in patients residing in four states (Guanajuato, San Luis Potosi, State of Mexico, and Mexico City) from central Mexico. In addition, the factors related to self-medication among patients were studied. A total of 1600 patients were interviewed. A chi-square test examined associations between socio-demographic and socio-economic information, and self-medication with herbal products for the treatment of anxiety and depression. The main factors associated with self-medication are age and gender (female). The prevalence of self-medication was 40% among the participants who used herbal products for the treatment of anxiety and depression. The main herbal products used were based on: i) Valeriana spp., , ii) Passiflora spp., iii) lavender, and iv) chamomille. This study indicates the important need to educate patients about the harmful effects of consuming these products.

Abstract:

When creating a formula of a great product, we have to consider what method of delivery best suits our product.

When placing materials into a capsule, we also have to consider how to avoid having the stomach destroy everything. We have to think about how the liver is going to remove anything unnecessary for our body.

My presentation will consist of methods and techniques to improve bioavailability in a capsule. This way we can increase potency, hit target tissues, and decrease costs.

Abstract:

Movement therapy is an important, yet overlooked, aspect of chronic pain management, because it emphasizes a mind-body connection in a way that traditional PT does not. Though conventional physical therapy may help temporarily, PT is usually reactive, not proactive. If your patients suffer chronic musculoskeletal pain, it is key to give them an expanded toolkit by choosing from a wide variety of other movement therapies such as Feldenkrais Method, Gyrotonic Method, Pilates and Yoga Therapy. Movement therapy is also very holistic in its approach, with yoga therapy, pilates and Gyrotonic seeking to improve both mental and physical health, and Feldenkrais focusing on creating new connections between the brain and body. Unique from PT, is the way that movement therapy allows for the incorporation of technology and thus offers more personalized healing. The aims of Naturopathic medicine are in sync with those of Movement therapy, making it a vital part of any ND’s healing arsenal.
