Ethnopharmacology and Biologic Products

Ethnopharmacology is a study of the traditional medicine practiced by various ethnic groups, and especially by indigenous community. The word ethnomedicine is sometimes used as a synonym for traditional medicine. Ethnomedical research is interdisciplinary; in its study of traditional medicines, it applies the methods of ethnobotany and medical anthropology. Often, the medicine traditions it studies are preserved only by oral tradition.

Biological products are medical products. Many biologics are contrived from a variety of natural sources. Like drugs, some biologics are intended to treat diseases and medical conditions. Other biologics are used to prevent or diagnose diseases.
